Short answer
Yes. As at November 2026, NSW offers an incentive under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme when an eligible home or small business battery is signed up with a virtual power plant provider for at least 12 months. It can be combined with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program discount.
Main conditions:
- the property is a house (a Class 1 building) or a small business site. Apartments aren’t eligible for this incentive.
- the account holder signs a contract with the VPP provider for at least 12 months
- the battery’s usable capacity is over 2 kWh and up to 50 kWh, with the incentive calculated on up to 28 kWh
- the battery has at least 6 years of warranty remaining
- there’s no life support equipment at the site
- it can only be claimed once for each electricity meter (National Metering Identifier)
- a Home Energy Saver loan used for the battery can’t be combined with this incentive, because the loans page excludes NSW Energy Security Safeguard incentives and this incentive sits under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme. See What is the NSW Home Energy Saver program?
The value depends on your battery’s size and the market price of NSW certificates, so it isn’t a fixed amount. SEA can tell you which VPP options suit your battery.
