Short answer
As at November 2026, eligible Victorian households can get a solar panel rebate of up to $1,400 through Solar Victoria’s Solar Homes Program, with an optional matching interest-free loan. Victoria no longer offers a state battery rebate. Victorian households use the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program instead.
Solar panel rebate eligibility (main conditions):
- you own and live in the home
- combined household taxable income under $150,000 a year
- property value under $3 million
- no previous Solar Homes solar or battery rebate at the address, and no solar system installed there in the last 10 years
- you use a Solar Victoria authorised retailer and eligible products.
You need eligibility approval before installation. If you install before your eligibility is approved, you won’t receive the rebate.

- Apartments: Solar for Apartments for owners corporations. See Are there incentives for apartments?
