What is the ESY Sunhome battery?

Table of Contents
Short answer

ESY Sunhome battery systems come in sizes from 5.12 kWh to 30.72 kWh of nominal capacity. ESY’s Australian warranty covers the battery to keep at least 70% of its capacity for 10 years, subject to conditions including an energy throughput limit, installation by an SAA-accredited installer and staying connected to the internet.

Sizes (nominal): 5.12, 10.24, 15.36, 20.48, 25.60 and 30.72 kWh. Capacity can only be expanded within the first year after installation, so it’s worth choosing the right size from the start.

Warranty (ESY Sunhome AU, November 2025):

  • at least 70% of capacity retained for 120 months (10 years) from installation
  • a throughput limit, from 21.5 MWh for the 5.12 kWh system up to 129.0 MWh for the 30.72 kWh system
  • installation by an SAA-accredited installer, with the battery bought new in Australia through ESY’s authorised channel
  • the battery must stay online through internet or 4G for monitoring, or the warranty may be voided.

Backup: ESY’s manual says its HM5 and HM6 systems can act as a backup power supply during an outage. Backup only runs the appliances wired to the system’s backup side, so tell us what you’d want running during an outage and we’ll design for it.
