What incentives are available in South Australia?

Table of Contents
Short answer

As at November 2026, South Australians mainly use the federal incentives: STCs for solar panels and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program for batteries. The state’s Home Battery Scheme has closed and isn’t accepting new applications. SA also has a legacy 44 cent feed-in tariff for older systems and solar export rules.

Also worth knowing in SA:

  • Old 44 cent feed-in tariff. It’s only available for systems connected before 30 September 2011, and installing a battery ends it.
  • Dynamic exports. New solar inverters must meet SA’s dynamic export requirements, which adjust how much you can export based on network capacity.
  • Solar Sharer Offer. Eligible SA households can get three free hours of electricity from 12pm to 3pm. See What is the Solar Sharer Offer?

SEA checks your eligibility for every current program when we prepare your proposal.
