Short answer
As at November 2026, the main national incentives are small-scale technology certificates (STCs), which reduce the upfront cost of solar panels, and the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which reduces the cost of batteries. Some states add their own programs. Most incentives come off the price as a discount rather than being paid to you in cash.
National (all states)
- STCs for solar: see What are STCs?
- Cheaper Home Batteries Program: see How does it work?
By state
- NSW: a VPP incentive for batteries, plus Home Energy Saver zero-interest loans for eligible owners. See NSW battery incentives
- Victoria: Solar Homes solar panel rebate of up to $1,400 for eligible households. See Victorian rebates
- Queensland: rebates for landlords installing solar on rentals. See Queensland incentives
- South Australia: the state Home Battery Scheme has closed. See South Australian incentives
- Western Australia: the Residential Battery Scheme. See WA battery scheme
- ACT: the Home Energy Support Program for concession card holders. See ACT program
Incentives change often, and each has its own eligibility rules. SEA checks what you qualify for and shows it in your proposal.
