As at November 2026, the Solar Sharer Offer is a regulated electricity plan that gives eligible households three hours of free electricity in the middle of every day: 11am to 2pm in NSW and South East Queensland, and 12pm to 3pm in South Australia. Free use is capped at 24 kWh a day. You don’t need solar panels to get it.
Who can get it:
- households in NSW, South Australia or South East Queensland
- with a smart meter
- not supplied through an embedded network
- with a retailer that’s required to offer it.
Renters and homeowners can both use it. The free period doesn’t make your whole bill free: you still pay your daily supply charge and for power used outside the window. The Australian Energy Regulator sets the free period and the prices outside it.
It’s an electricity plan, not a solar rebate or incentive.
