Solar panels usually come with two manufacturer warranties: a product warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, and a performance warranty describing the minimum output the panel should keep over time. The exact terms depend on the brand and model. Panels SEA supplies are also backed by our 5-year Whole-of-System Warranty.
- Product warranty: covers manufacturing defects in the panel itself. The federal Solar Consumer Guide says that for many panels this is 10 to 15 years, and some manufacturers now offer 25 years or more.
- Performance warranty: sets the maximum loss of output over time, expressed as a percentage of the panel’s rated output after a set number of years.
For example, AIKO’s Australian and New Zealand residential warranty for its Neostar panels states:
- a 25-year product warranty against material or manufacturing defects
- a 30-year power warranty, with at least 90.6% of rated output at year 25 and 88.85% at year 30.
AIKO’s 72-cell Comet and Stellar models are covered by a separate commercial and utility warranty, with a 15-year product term and a 30-year power term.
The installation of your panels is covered by our 10-year workmanship guarantee. The warranty periods for your panels are in the manufacturer warranty documents for your system. If a panel develops a fault, contact SEA rather than the manufacturer. We manage the claim for equipment we supplied. See What warranties come with my SEA system?
